For over 25 years, the Coppell Lions Club has offered annual scholarships to worthy graduating high school seniors of Coppell that seek a college education. In the history of the club, the Lions have donated more than $110,000 in scholarship money.
Students that wish to apply for the Coppell scholarship, must be qualified, graduating seniors of either Coppell High School or New Tech High School. They are urged to meet with their counselor at the school and obtain an application. Students will be asked to disclose their wish to attend college and explain their goals. Worthy candidates will subsequently be asked to meet with the Coppell Lions Scholarship Committee in person to answer questions and present their statement of goals and objectives.
The Committee chooses one or more applicants for the Coppell scholarship. Primary selection based on financial need (as perceived by the Lions Club), character, citizenship and community service. Students must have plans to attend a four-year college, carrying at least twelve hours each semester. Recipients are awarded $1000 the first year, with the potential of three additional years of $1000 each, totaling $4000 if appropriate grade point averages are maintained.
Students applying for the Lions Scholarship, are urged to complete their application early. Applications are available from the high school counselors or may be downloaded as a PDF file below and returned directly to the Coppell Lions.
